Dip canape topping – 1

I bought DIP’s oil free readymade canapes which can be topped in so many ways. This is one of the ‘short break’ snacks I give my children as it is easy to finish in 15 minutes and is tasty too! It is a quick snack. The only thing you need to prepare is the potato mash.
Pressure cook or steam and peel a few potatoes. Mash alongwith salt to taste, a pinch of oregano and a little chopped coriander.
Press a little potato paste followed by a sprinkling of thin ‘barik sev’ (Indian crispies made with chickpea flour), a little grated cheddar cheese (Amul’s cubes), a pinch of black salt and some chopped coriander leaves. Ready to EAT!!I had once made this as a snack for one of the kids’ birthday parties by topping the dip canapes with a little mint and tamarind chutney over the sev and it had been an instant hit!

  2. Hi,

Can you please tell were I can find the Dip Canapes in US.

  3. I tried making the same stuff mentioned …but the canapes went soggy with 5 minutes….is there anything else that you do to prvent them from being soggy

  4. Monali, I pressure cooked the potatoes. But I notice that here I had mentioned ‘boil’. I have updated that now. My chutneys were pretty thick. Could it be that yours was thin? Another thing you can do is mix the potato with the chutneys and then use it. Don’t press much. Since I have moved from this stage to using home made thing and vegan cooking, I am afraid I don’t buy these anymore. But they did not turn soggy.
